    Hi,

I have troubles to make the patch assessment work. I always get the exite code 4.
Running it manually already doesn't work. The error message is the following:

    Utils::ConnectionPointSinkImpl<struct ShavlikAssessmentSdk::IRunEvents>::AttachToSource()- ptrIUnknownOfSource.QueryInterface<IConnectionPointContainer>() failed (hr=0x80004002).

Patch assessment failed (exit code 4).

    Thanks in advance,

Hi, Thanks for your answers !

    @ Mistral
I already saw that post but the error message is not the same. Even so, I have tested the solutions described without success.

    @ Sachin
The PMImport works well because the whole patching process works well on other XP computers.

It is also not a COM issue described in a lot of posts describing the "exit code 4".

    Well, sorry about that.

I know the error message is not the same, but I did google for "IConnectionPointContainer" and got a bunch of "COM" results on the first pages.

Did you enable the Windows Update service and File sharing (both needed as far as i know)?

I did also google before posting.. But I did not find any answer.. It looks very strange.

    Yes both are enabled...

    Still not working... :(

Windows Update works well as we are using WSUS in parallel... (this config works well on 99% of the clients)

    Hello JeromeNov,

Could you please attach Agent logs from affected client, captured when issue is reproducible?

Also it would be great to see STPatchAssessment.log and STPatchAssessment.xml, these files are usually located at "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\SoftwareManagement\Software Delivery\{6D417916-467C-46A7-A870-6D86D9345B61}\cache\"

Do you have any errors or warnings in Windows Event Viewer when this issue occurs?

    Thanks,
    Roman

    try re-registering msxml3.dll

if the .dll gets un-registered the altiris agent will be a PITA
