I'm trying to install SSC Symantec System Center v10 on Windows Server 2008r2 64-bit but I get the error message:
This version of Symantec System Center does not support 64-bit platforms.
Is there a reliable work around such as copying a Grc.dat? file? or installing the application in some sort of 32bit compatibility mode?
The solution is to upgrade to symantec endpoint protection: why? because symantec dropped support for v9 in the spring of 2009. They will probably drop support for v10 this year or next. That means there is no purpose in retrofitting v10 for 64bit when a new product exists which was written for 64bit, that being Endnpoint Protection.
After I googled: "10.2.2.2000" 64 bit - I also found the following: a ctrl+F in your browser and
type the following search words:
management components
will make it clear once and for all that you cannot install SSC under any 64bit OS without a back door hack.

- Support for Windows Server 2008 and Vista SP1 have been added to the Symantec AntiVirus 10.2.1 client only. The Symantec AntiVirus server and Symantec System Center and deployment tools have also been modified to support the management of clients that run on Windows Server 2008. The management components cannot be installed on a computer running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista.
- Symantec AntiVirus client for Windows Vista does not run on Windows Server Core 2008.
