I try to upgrade SEPM from version 11.0.6300.803  to 12.1

sepm is on one server and sql on another server

I follow the recomended steps but when I come to SQL Authentication it does not accept the login credentials

" Your SQL Server login credentials could not be validated. Please re-enter your sql server login information"

I have also run the "management server configurating wizard" to be sure that I have the right sql creddentials.

So in sepm 11 its ok with the connection to the sql server.

    Hi cosp,

The installer needs either the SA account or an account with sysadmin priveleges as it needs to create maintenance plans and reconfigure the database - the SEM5 user account doesn't have those rights.

Are you giving the installer the right account?

open the SQL mgmt. studio with the SA account and password, if successful use that account for migration purpose.

you should only need the SA account for install, it shouldn't change the default account that is used day to day.
