Upgraded SEP11 server to SEP12 server - cannot export clients

I've tried the repair installs, restarting services, different directories that aren't shared out. No matter what, the Windows clients will not complete the export or creation of install packages. I'm using SEP 12.1u1. I've tried the basic and standard deployments. Create single EXE (Which is what I want) but also unchecked it - still just hangs.

It always stops at collecting data from the server... I've let it sit for hours. It never completes. Oddly enough, the Mac version exported in about 2 minutes.

Any ideas short of wiping the OS and trying a reinstall? It's on Server 2008R2.

  Greetings,

  I had a similar problem after my upgrade. For me, the solution was to export the files to a local directory on the SEPM server and then copy them to the network share where I would typically store them.

 My network share is DFS and I'm guessing the path name was too long based the directory structure and the rather long name SEP likes to use for it's source files "My Default Group........." and that this was causing the hang-up.

I have same problem on sepm 12.1.1000.157 (clean install, not upgrade from sepm 11). Export of Win client (both single .exe and unpacked installation, export folder is on local drive) sometimes hangs during exporting process, approximately when collecting virus definitions. Only full reboot of sepm server helps (for several days, then I need to reboot again :) )

I've tried update.bat and restarted the server. I've pointed to local drives with short paths like C:\Temp -> still hangs up... Unless it's supposed to take more than 5 minutes . . .

• Log into SEPM
• Click in the Tab: Admin > Install Packages and select the old packages with right click and select the option delete;
• After you remove all the old packages, log off from SEPM.

2) Click on Start > Run and type the following command ''services.msc'' to open the services management:

• Stop the service ''Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager''; (Keep it open)

3) Open the following direct <driver:>Program FilesSymantecSymantec Endpoint Protection ManagerBin and execute ''upgrade.bat'';

• Once you executed  ''upgrade.bat'' start the service ''Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager'' and log on again into SEPM.;

Now you should be able to export the new packages.

In the Symantec Endpoint Protection Management console, navigate to Admin -> Install Packages.

Select the install package to export.

Click Export Client Install Package under Tasks.

In the Export Package wizard.

Select Contents and choose Basic Content.

Ok, the suggestion regarding the Java Heap Size + Basic content put me on the right track. I increased the RAM for the server from 2 to 3 GB and exported a basic content version, and it worked. This leads me to believe it may have been working, but just taking forever for the newer content?
