Windows Security (XP SP3) no longer recognizes Symantec Endpoint 11.0 is installed on a clinet PC. Scheduled scans work but there is no Network Threat Protection tab and Live Update does not work. I tried repair and uninstall but got the following error:

The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.

How do I uninstall / reinstall SEP?

You should contact Tech Support to get a removal tool for the same.

Before running cleanwipe, try to run setup for SEP client, and see what happens....

Which version is installed on the computer? Eg 11.0.xxxx.xxx.

    Check the below article

Go to services.msc and assure that windows installer is not disabled. If it is disabled make it to manual. Then start the service manually and try to install. You can also try ny installing windows installer 3.1 manually first(This is available at SEP CD itself...).Then process with installation...

The reply by Trust to link #2 above, "Allow service to interact with desktop", is what fixed the problem. Many thanks!  smiley
