Need more information on EOL

    Hi,

In our envirement, our SEP manger is running on SEP 11 RU7 MP4a version and all clients are running on SEP 11 RU7 MP3 version..

I checked EOL details for SEP 11 RU7 MP3 on below URL

    https://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=releasedetails&key=54619

End of Life 2011-07-05 - "End of Life" means the day that a Symantec product enters a process to wind down distribution and the delivery of technical support services.

End of Limited Support 2014-01-05 - Last date for patch releases

End of Support Life 2015-01-05 - Last date to contact support

My doubt here is, after 2015-01-05, will symantec countinue to provide defination file updates for SEP 11 RU7 MP3?

    Can someone clear my doubt?

All content (Definitions) and technical support for these two versions of the product will cease on 5 January 2015.

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH211491

Here it says it will provide definition update till Jan 2015, However I have seen with 10.x where extended the definitions for additional few months.

Thats why I mentioned Symantec " Might Extend" the defintion update, as per the link it will stop after Jan 2015

let me know if you need more help here.

    See this

When are the EOLS <subhead>and EOSL dates?</subhead>

Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x reaches EOLS on January 5, 2014, and EOSL on January 5, 2015. For further information, see the document Support life extension for Endpoint Protection 11.x and Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.0.x

Will the intelligent updater still update SEP 11.x machines when the definitions stop being downloaded via the SEPM?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

Symantec has made the decision to extend the availability of content for both products for one year, from 5 January 2014 to 5 January 2015, to allow customers more time to complete their migration to the latest version of Endpoint Protection. To accommodate this extension, the EOSL date for Endpoint Protection 11.x has also been extended from 27 September 2014 to 5 January 2015. To align with that same date, the EOSL date for Endpoint Protection SBE 12.0 has been pulled in, from 6 April 2016 to 5 January 2015.

Is there any particular reason to stay with SEP 11.x version? Why don't you upgrade to SEP 12.1?

Upgrade to the latest available release of SEP to enjoy  many other enhancements and improvements.

We are trying to get 15000+ SEP 11 agents migrated to the SEP 12 environment completely. Due to the complexity and geographical access to remote sites we are struggling to get to the 15000+ machines. Should we not be able to get them to SEP 12 in time this would pose a risk for the customer.
