  • 1.  Move SEp client from one SEPM to another

    Posted May 22, 2013 11:24 AM

    Hi,

I have two different SEPM servers which are nowhere linked. I have clients in both the SEPM servers.

I would like to move the SEP client (servers) from SEPM1 to SEPM2. I want the exact policies of the clients in the SEPM1 to be applied in the SEPM2 as well

Is there any way i can import the policies from SEPM1 to SEPM2? or is there any other way this can be achived?

Yes you can export the policies from a SEPM and import into another. This can be accomplished by going to the Policies tab and selecting a policy you want to export and clicking "Export the policy". Than simply import into the other SEPM on its Policies page by clicking "Import a policy"

    See this KBA for guidance

    Hello,

In your case, there are 2 steps which you would have to work on.

    1) Export and Import all the policies from the SEPM1 server to the SEPM2 server. Check this Article on how to perform the actions -

How to export/import an existing Symantec Endpoint Protection policy

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH106486

Before importing a policy, make sure the source computer's version of Symantec Endpoint Protection matches the computer's version you are importing to.

Note: You can migrate the source computer to a newer version before exporting the policy to avoid this problem.

    Reference: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH163090

    2) To get all the server clients report to the SEPM2 server, you can perform either of the following steps -

SylinkReplacer Utility - This utility would assist you to replace the Sylink.xml file to all the server clients remotely.

    OR

Perform the steps provided in the Articles below:

    HI,

By replacing the sylink.xml you can change the communication to another SEPM.

You can import the policy and export the same to keep the policies same.

    Hi,

Most of the organizations have file and print services disabled hence sylink replacer will not work.

Use the below link to move the SEP client from SEPM1 to SEPM2. which are nowhere linked.SNAC licesne is required on SEPM1

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/moving-sep-clients-independent-sepm-another-independent-sepm

You have to export policies from SEPM 1 and import to SEPM 2 and have them assigned to the respective groups.
