  • 1.  SEPM Client Install to Imported Organizational Unit

    Posted Mar 12, 2013 04:00 PM

I am currently trying to push an install package to a specific OU that I have imported into the SEPM from Ative Directory. Is this Possible?

The only way to push an Install pack so far is using the remote deployment tool and scanning for IP addresses. Any help Appreciated...

    Current SEPM version: 12.1 RU2

You can use the Autoupgrade feature and apply an install package for the OU per this KB article:

Have these machine already the SEP installations on them?

Autoupgrade option is only to  "upgrade" of already existing clients. If these are new machines that you just added via AD import/synch - Autoupgrade cannot be used to push the package to them. You will need to use standard deployment methods like push deployment from SEPM or .msi installation from AD through GPO.

Are you going to upgrade the Client SEP or it's a new installation?

Agree with SebastianZ. If these are new installation you can use the Client Deployment wizard.

I am not sure that the Upgrade route will work. I forgot to mention that this is a fresh installation of the Symantec Client.

Is there a way to push to an Imported AD group from the Client Deployment wizard?

You can export the clients from OU or from sepm.

put all the ips or domain names. one per line in a text file

you can later import that in the client deployment wizard.

    Is your environment AD integrated?

If yes the then go through the Client Deployment wizard.

    "Thumbs Up" to SebastianZ

You'd need to use the GPO to perform the initial install if you want it going by OU.  After that, the clients within the OU in questions can be upgraded follwoing Brian's steps

There's also the SEP-Integration Component for Altiris if you want:
