No Tools in Local SSC

Symantec Antivirus 10.1.8.8000, on Widows 2003 R2 SP2. I am logged on under the domain adminstrator account. At the local console,  there is no "Tools" option. Just file, view, scan, configure, histories, help and no tool bar. But when I RDP to the server, I can see the full SSC-[Console Root\SSC\System Hierarchy\server group name\server name] with Tools and the full tool bar.

Any insight into this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try by login locally using the same user which you used for RDP and see ..

    go to add/remove programs
    select SSC
    click change
    click modify
check if you have tools checked, if not check and install it.

@AravindKM, I added Administrator to the Local Admin group, logged off and back on again, no change. I logon as Administrator both locally and by RDP, why would Tools be present in one and not the other?

@Rafeeq, see the attached scr shot for installed components. ??

when you local admin ? is that the administrator what you create in SSC?
like limited administrators, you log in to SSC with same set of ids and passwords in rdp and local session?

I am referring to the Windows Domain "Administrator" account and yes I do login to both local and RDP with that account.

The first image is which you open the client inster face and the second one is the management console.
Are you not able to open the mmc console in while trying to login locally.?
What is the error you are getting while trying  to open mmc console after login in locally.?

"Symantec AntiVirus also provides one preexisting user named admin, who is assigned to the Administrator role."

This is the account I am using. But I am not able to unlock the server group. I created a new server group, but I cannot delete it.

Might be silly, but when the "Console Root" is highlighted on the console, "Tools" option will not show up. Please try to highlight the 'Server group' and check for it.

Else please try to uninstall and reinstall SSC on a different machine.

    Thank you,

Make sure that group is empty..Move all the server in that group to a other group then try deleting it.

The group is empty, it was only a test. After unlocking the server group and choosing delete from the action menu, this message results.

    To remove the TEST Group.

    Highlight the "System Hirearchy"
    Click on "View"
    Choose "Filter Server Group View"
Uncheck the server group that you don't need and click Ok
Run a "Discovery" from the tools menu and this will remove the server group since there are no computers present in that group.

Please let me know if this helps.
