    Hi there,

    I just installed SEP SBE 12.0 on my personal PC as a unmanaged client. Everything went well, even LiveUpdate.

    But there is one thing bothering me:

    I cannot configure the rules and settings for Proacvtive Threat Protection. It says "Your administrator has locked this feature." But I couldn't prohibit it, because I didn't install the Center to disable any features.

    So do you have any ideas hiw to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    greetings

    Flo

    I believe the only way is it to make the client  managed  and then enable from management console. Even in the previous versions it was enabled but still you couldn't do much.

    Suren Gundumalla is correct. You can install the SPC on the same system if it meets the minimum requirments and then make the client managed.

    Symantec Protection Center system requirements

    * 32-bit processor: 1-GHz Intel Pentium III or equivalent minimum (Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent recommended)
    * 64-bit processor: 2-GHz Pentium 4 with x86-64 support or equivalent minimum
    Intel Itanium IA-64 is not supported.
    * Operating systems: Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows Server 2003 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows Server 2008 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows Small Business Server 2008 (64-bit), or Windows Essential Business Server 2008 (64-bit)
    Windows Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) is not officially supported.
    * RAM memory: 1 GB of RAM minimum (2 GB of RAM recommended)
    * Hard disk: 4 GB or more free space

    Hello again,

    first, thanks for your replies. I installed the SPC on my system, but I cannot figure out how to permit the changing of the ProactiveTP settings.  I have searched through the KB but did not found anything.

    I don't know what to do...

    greetings

    First convert your client to managed -

    imagebrowser image

    Then select  policies>right click>Edit

    Virus Spyware>Truescan Proactive Threat Scans

    You can enable/disable PTP as well as the ability to lock the setting. However there are no other PTP options to choose from.

    Let me know if this was helpful.

    I see now that SEP 12 small business edition is supported on WIndows 7 x64, but is Symantec Protection Center?

    The SPC is not supported on Win7.

    New operating system support for the client
    ===========================================

    -- Microsoft Windows 7 (All versions)
    -- Microsoft Windows 2008 R2
    -- Microsoft Windows 2008 SP2
    -- Microsoft Windows Vista SP2

    New operating system support for the server (Symantec Protection Center)
    ========================================================================

    -- Microsoft Windows 2008 R2
    -- Microsoft Windows 2008 SP2

    Best,
    Thomas

    Then how can I configure this problem on a Windows 7 x64 system without SPC installed?
