Change To: Address Name for SEPM Email Notifications?

  • 1.  Change To: Address Name for SEPM Email Notifications?

When I was testing SEPv11 RU5 I remember the email notifications showing the SEPM console login name @servername.com. (i.e. Admin@SEPSERVER.com

When we upgraded to RU6/RU6a all of the notifications began to show the following address in the To: field - servername$@servername.com (i.e. SEPSERVER$@SEPSERVER.com

Is there anyway to change the To: email address or name being used?

use the username where you specify the mail server IP address under the Admin > Server > servername properties. details then you will recive the E-mail form Username@servername.com

I thought this was only for authenticating against an SMTP. Anyways I entered a username and it didnt change anything.

Have you tried this and did it work for you?

Why does it force .com at the end?  We do not have a .com domain name.

Why cant we use the fully qualified name of the server instead of servername@servername.com?

I talked to our sales engineer support guy and he said it could not be changed.  We had to white-list it in our e-mail filter.

You might want to add this to the "Ideas" section of the forum.

After doing some more searching I found this (was looking for the Idea i posted):

    http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/configuring-address-sepm

    www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/configuring-address-sepm

I'm glad some one finally documented that.

I thought I did make an Idea suggestion about it, but cant seem to find it ... it was about a year ago I posted it.  Its not worth spending any more time searching for it.

Someone needs to go through those 1200 ideas and consolidate them to similar requests.

Yes, I just checked, and my mail is still coming from system@servername.com at version ru6a.  I wasn't paying attention to that detail.  It doesn't make much difference.

Now to go do the blog suggestion.  Crossing my fingers.

The instructions in the blog worked. Whe I tried it earlier I didnt fully qualify the name but after I added @mycompany.com it worked!
