    Posted Nov 28, 2013 09:35 AM

After importing a (both public & private) key into PGP Desktop, the key is not available to be used for encryption and appears as unverified. The key appears with a gray circle under the Verified column in All Keys.  When tried to Sign the key, PGP prompts "This key is already signed by the specified signing key."

By default when the key is created is trusted as "Implicit" but if you import the key to PGP it will be "None".

You have mentioned that you imported keypair (After importing a (both public & private)...........)

Please try to right click on a key in PGP > Key properties check the Trust level and see if you can change to "Implicit". If you need a steps please follow KB below:

(you can skip the sign part as you did this so far - go directly to Changing the Trust level for a PGP Keypair)

do you see if the key is also disabled ?

see if you can synchronize the key with PGP GLobal Directory or any other keyserver which you are using.

    check the below KB:

Public Keys become disabled in PGP Desktop
    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH149041

also try to submit your key to Global Directory where you will be able to verify your key and then download again from global directory and import to PGP Desktop again. See if this trick helps.

HOW TO: Upload a key to the PGP Global Directory (Windows)

check also this thread if it can be of any help but looking from your post most probably not ?

    Hi jmrk,

Was this key created from a certificate?
Can you post a screenshot of the key details (shadowing the identifiable data)?

    Regards,
