  • 1.  Symantec client not working!

    Hi

    I have attached the errors which I am facing right now in one client pc 


    Please help me to solve this problem

    0x80070102:Failed to open the application error after installing Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 11.0 RU5 on Windows 7

    If any other OS try Logging in as Administrator or Run Cleanwipe and re-install SEP.

    Re-register the msxml.dll-
    Go to Start>> Run
    Type "regsvr32 msxml.dll"
    Click OK


    Start SMC from run line-
    Go to Start>> Run
    Type "smc -start"
    Click OK

    Please check this as well

    Click on Start > Run and type Services.msc

    Right-click on the System Event Notification service and click on Properties.

    Under the General tab, verify that the startup type is set to automatic and start the service.

    Click OK and start the Symantec Management Client service.

    Hi

    I tried all in the post but not effective so i uninstalled and checked through trial version of another antivirus found a lot of trojans


    I think that might be one of the reason still Iam working on that pc I will give the result after finishing

    You can also use Norton Power Eraser for removing the  threats.After removing the threats
    Remove SEP
    Delete following folders if present
    C:\Program Files\Symantec
    C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec
     
    Also delete following reg keys
    HKLM\Software\symantec
    HKCU\Software\symantec
    Install SEP and try..

    Hi

    Xfer folder in symantec endpoint protection contains PACKED.WIN32.KRAP.W trojans on *.tmp files in that folder detected by another antivirus and I deleted all the files in that folder and removed trial version of the antivirus  and reloaded sep it seems to be fine.

    Hi

    Thanks for your support and good wishes

    Still I am facing the problem SMC in another pc

    Prakash's pc is now working fine but hisham's pc is still the same problem

    Both pc's had the identical problem

    I am attaching the errors while trying to run the NORTON POWER ERASER also herewith


    Please go through these errors and give the solution

    Assure that both system event notification and event log services are started....

    Try this
    Click Start > Control Panel > gpedit.msc
    Go to Windows settings> Security settings > Local policies> User rights assignment.
    Edit Adjust Memory Quotas for a Process and Replace a Process Level Token, and add Network Service to the two policies.
    Restart the computer after applying the changes.
