I have re established all of my exception, files, folders, drives and extensions. What I would like to do now is export this information to a text file. I do not want to use the database backup, I just want to have all of these in a text file for refernce.

    Thank you.

Not possible, but you can export the policy for safe keeping

Or try this, export the policy and rename to .zip and open up. In it will be a main.xml file

Open and you will see the settings in readable text

    Hello,

It is not possible as these policies are exported in .dat format.

You can probably use a .dat viewer application.

Check this thread with similar query:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/any-way-export-firewall-policies-text-format

In your case, you can export these policies and import to the SEPM / SEP clients when you need it by following the steps provided in the articles below:

    Check these Articles:

How to export/import an existing Symantec Endpoint Protection policy

Importing a policy into Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 unmanaged clients where the policy was exported from an unmanaged 11.x client does not work

    Hope that helps!!

Go to the Policies tab and select your Exception policy. Under Tasks select Export the policy

Save to your desktop and rename the .dat extension to .zip and double click to open

You will see a file in there called main.xml. Open and you can view your policy settings showing the exceptions.
