  • 1.  SEP and VDI Considerations?

    Posted Apr 05, 2011 04:18 AM

    Hi,

i have asked this before, but just received 'no special configuration is required for VDI' as answers.

We have problems with both def updates (after av update a surface scan happens) on our VDI's and the weekly scan that cripple the performance of the VDI, probably hammering disk I/O resulting in based performance.

If there any white papers or guidelines when using SEP for VDI's?  also I have heard some companies completely take AV off the VDI's for this very reason, but is there any tuning or best practice guides?

So far I am looking to configure a randomize window for AV updates and change the weekly scheduled scan to mid night (although VDI's are used 24 hours).

Lastly does anyone on here use SEP with XP VDI's, if so what is your experience and rough policy configuration?

    RVTSCAN.exe is the main culprit.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for that.

also if anyone has anything VDI specific as well?  Or even own experiences, would be very helpful.

Servers seem OK, but VDI's really suffer (probably due to be more intensively used workloads..etc).

    thanks

    Hello,

I understand what you have been through.

After creating Threads Again and Again, I am sure you may have something behind your mind. It seems, you are not receiving a Answer what you are looking for.

I see, you had already created a thread:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sep-xp-vdis-any-special-special-policy-considers-and-update-time

If I am not mistaken after reading both the Thread, I found your expectations are:

    1)  Looking for Best Practices guide.

    2) Policies for Liveupdate and so on for your VDI environment.

    3) configure a randomize window for AV updates and change the weekly scheduled scan to mid night
