    Posted Sep 29, 2014 09:22 AM

    Hi team,

I need some clarification about SEP client for Linux. In my environment we have SEPm enterprise edition, but in this version we are not able to see any client for linux.

Could some some how can we get SEP client setup file for linux, did we need to purcahse seperate licenses for Linux clients.

As I see something in RU5 version , RU5 supporting linux client, not sure what does mean that.

what is the procedure to get the SEP client setup file for Linux in and existing enviroment where we are using enterprise SEPm version .

    Do you have 12.1.5 installed?

You can get the Linux client from fileconnect:

    Have you seen this?

12.1 RU5 is the only SEPM with a managed linux client. All versions before used SAVFL that comes as an unmanaged client but packaged with the installer when you extract previous SEPM packages.

Has to be rolled out seperatly and you can only recieve reporting in the SEPM's from the SAVFL client itself.

    Hello,

Check this video to install SAV for linux as a unmanaged client:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/videos/install-process-symantec-antivirus-savfl-red-hat-linux

Check these articles to know how to downoad setup files.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/downloading-current-latest-products-symantec-flexnetoperations-earlier-symantec-fileconnect

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/understanding-downloads-symantec-endpoint-protection-sep-121-available-symantec-fileconnect

Symantec Endpoint Protection version 11/12.1 RU5 prior releases does not support Linux environment. There is no SEP for Linux. There is SAV for Linux (SAVFL) which is included on the SEP disk download.

The SAVFL client cannot be managed by the SEPM, although it can report logs back to the SEPM by using SAV Reporter, which was released after SAVFL 1.0.10, but can be downloaded from the following KB article.

Symantec AntiVirus for Linux (SAVFL) Reporter 1.0.10 Release Notes

But with the release of SEP 12.RU5, The enterprise version of Symantec Endpoint Protection now includes the Symantec Endpoint Protection client for Linux. The Symantec Endpoint Protection client for Linux replaces the Symantec AntiVirus client for Linux and supports a greater range of distributions and kernels. Added distributions include Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (RHEL) 6.5 and CentOS 6.5

SEP for Linux clients can now be managed by an RU5 SEPM, or later. Configuration enhancements have been made to the SEPM to allow policy creation for managed Linux clients. This includes AV policy settings, centralized exceptions, and LiveUpdate settings. The SEPM also features enhanced reporting for Linux clients, including the SEP client version, host OS details, and hardware details.
