One of the branches we work with are hesitant to use SEP on their systems. They say that before they install SEP, their memory utilization is 10%, but after installation it jumps to 55%.
How to reduce memory utilization of SEP?
First off, what process is taking up all the CPU? What components are installed?
There are a couple tips here:

whats the process thats taking memory?
What process takes high memory utilization ?

Symantec Endpoint Protection client shows high CPU usage immediately after virus definition updates.
Hi,
Which process is taking this resource?
Any full scan is going on this system by this time,
How any systems are on your network having same issue / is it only on one system.

The branch was testing one system.
Just now I just asked for the process name.
Here is a screenshot of services affected when SEP is installed
And here is screenshot of processes from SYSINTERNALS.
Any further suggestions?
Do you have exclusions set for MS SQL?
Excluding Microsoft SQL Server files and folders using Centralized Exceptions
Althoughm CPU looks ok, SQL is taking up quite a bit of memory
I also think MS SQL needs to be an exception, I saw this in a separate case.
Yea, it probably does...it can be finicky if exceptions are not set.
