    Hi,

On the website Symantec claims they support "Windows, Mac & Linux" according to http://www.symantec.com/en/uk/pages.jsp?id=campaign-endpoint-protection&om_sem_cid=biz_sem_s200000000088145%7Cpcrid%7C40502784536%7Cpmt%7Cb%7Cplc%7C%7Cpdv%7Cc, but then here http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH203874&act=RATE&newguid=d85ca3f7cb3d4fd5a0fbf2a3fd691169 they say they do not. I've installed a trial copy of SEPM and it does not support Linux. How can I make Linux cooperate with SEPM?

SAV for Linux cannot be managed by SEPM. It is a standalone client separate from SEP.

There is a future plan to have SAVFL managed by SEPM. You can send SAVFL logs to the SEPM, see here:

Also check out the other SAVFL articles by Symantec's Mick2009, good stuff:

There is no SEP for linux as of now, you need to install SAV , its on the CD1 of your download from fileshare, these clients cannot be managed by SEPM as of now, all they can do is fwd the logs to SEPM,

Symantec says in RU5 you can manage linux clients like windows..we need to wait for that release.

    Hi drrr,

The information above is correct.  Use SAV for Linux for the next couple months until a managed SEP for Linux client is available in SEP 12.1 RU5.  SAV For Linux can forward its logs to the SEPM through the use of an optional tool called SAVFL Reporter, and then its entries will appear in some SEPM reports.

Definitely do keep those Linux machines protected! New threats targeting Linux are being discovered regularly.

    All the best,

    Mick
