    We recently upgraded our sepm from version 12.1.1 to 12.1.2, to fix a SEP space issue problem mainly on our thin clients.

    After the sepm upgrade (which was successful) we began to push out to the windows 7 embedded (32bit standard) thin clients via the sepm install wizard. Using a small sep footprint we pushed to one thin client for testing. The thin client had 500mb free space, before the push. Afterwards we noticed, via the sepm gui, the thin client's status was "install failed and it was reverting back to the original version".

    Has anybody else experienced this issue?

    Per the release notes:

    Hard disk

    Windows: 850 MB free hard disk space for the installation; additional space is required for content and logs
    Note: Space requirements are based on NTFS file systems.

    Agree with Brain Comment, as per your comment you was updated the SEPM Version, now you are going to deploy the upgraded package on client. If you are going to upgrade the client version then it mena that old version are alos avaiable then for the testing you can clear the old defintion file from that client and again test.

    500mb is very small.... take note also on defs revision that will be keep on the client

    you can use SEP for XP embedded

    Could you please let us know what folder is using the highest disk space on the machine?

    The folder is c:\programdata\symantec\symantec enpoint protection\12.1.2015.2015.105\data, which is currently utilizing 770mb of space.

    this is the folder which has definitions. If you look inside Virusdef folder you will see the defs.

    stop symantec management client service

    smc -stop

    delete the defs which are of older dates.

    you may then proceed with the install / autoupgrade feature.

    As a test, have you tried the instructions in this older article?

    It suggests pointing the TEMP directories at another location (USB drive or network folder) for the install and reverting back afterwards...

    Another option is to remove SEP first, reboot, then install the latest version.  An upgrade attempts to do a side-by-side install in which case both versions are present on the disk (which obviously uses more disk space).

     Hi,

    As per your comment, The thin clients have a 4GB flash drive and normally have 1.4 GB free after our standard software builds.

    You should think to increase the free space after standard software build.

    SEP 12.1 consume less space if we compared with SEP 11 version. SEP 12.1 does store only 1 definition at client machine.
