    Running SEP SBE 12.  I've deployed SEP to three servers from the management server.  One is SBS 2008 Std, one is Server 2008 Std and one is Storage Server 2008.  SBS 2008 server shows Proactive Threat Protection disabled pending updates.  SEPM shows server is healthy.  No problems with other two servers.  Looking at the SEPM console, SBS server doesn't show any TruScan definitions while the other servers do.  Only difference is that the SBS server is also running Mail Security.  This was not an upgrade, it was a fresh install of 12 - never had 11.  What could cause this issue?

    Can't do that in 12.  If you try to remove just PTP, it tells you that "TruScan must be enabled for  Virus and Spyware Protection to be selected" and you cannot remove it alone.

    On the server it should show off rather than disabled. It might be DCOM permission issue or corrupt definition issue as well.

    It shows off and disabled.  It shows off next to the options button and it shows disabled next to the fix button and over the tray icon.  How do we check and fix DCOM permissions?  How do we fix corrupt definitions?

    This applies to version 11.  I am running version 12.  If it didn't support 64-bit, I'm sure there wouldn't be a SEPx64 install folder and the readme would not say the following if it didn't support server operating systems.

    New operating system support for the client
    ===========================================

    -- Microsoft Windows 7 (All versions)
    -- Microsoft Windows 2008 R2
    -- Microsoft Windows 2008 SP2
    -- Microsoft Windows Vista SP2

    (is no one running 12?)

    2.  If the SEPSBE 12 client is installed on a server, will the TruScan Proactive Threat Scan piece be automatically disabled like it is when SEP 11 on a server?

    A. That I believe is true.

    Try doing a repair through Add/Remove Programmes

    A repair install did seem to resolve the problem - we'll see if it holds for a day.  But now that I've done some readng, I'll be disabling the PTP on my servers.
