  • 1.  SEPM: Embedded database VS. SQL

    Hi guys,

I'm wondering if there are any advantage/disadvantage of using the SEPM embedded database VS. MS SQL database.

We will have a maximum of 200 clients connected to the SEPM, I'm wondering if the embedded database has a limitation on how many clients it can handle.

Are there major advantages in performance of using MS SQL.

    Thanks,
    Vic

Embedded DB is good for clients less than 5000. If you are looking for failover or load balance then SQL is the only option.

Embedded DB has limited DB size as compared to SQL.

If you are sure enough that the number of clients reporting to the SEPM would not exceed a few thousands the Embedded database should be fine. However if you want to use the advanced features of SEP then MS SQL would be the preferred option. Embedded database is a part and parcel of SEP however MS SQL is not. Apart from this the fail over and Load balancing features will not be available with the Embedded database.

    Hello Sandip,

You said "However if you want to use the advanced features of SEP then MS SQL would be the preferred option"

Can you specify which features exactly are you talking about?

    Thanks
