My apologies for this post; it is probably pretty basic but not to me so thanks for any help out there.

We have Symantec Endpoint Protection on the machines in our small office but a free run of Registry Mechanic is showing 653 problems but will fix only a couple until we purchase and install the full program.

Is this a bonafide program and will running it clash with SEP? Any suggestions?

    Cheers

The fact that you have got Symantec Endpoint Protection should assure you that you are safe. However we would request you to download the latest definitions and then scan your machine for threats if any. We have no comments on what other products detect because we are not aware of the mechanism they use. Symantec is renowned for its Virus sample analysis and after rigorous analysis, only those which require attention are brought forward. Apart from the Forums here we have our World class support in case you face any further issue.

If you are talking about PC Tools Registry Mechanic, then no worries about the legitimacy of the program.  PC Tools is owned by Symantec. I used the Registry mechanic on my home systems with Norton AV 2010 installed and have never experienced an issue.
