Has anyone managed to get PCAnywhere working in 7.6? Instead of upgrading 7.5 to 7.6  I built a new 7.6 infrastructure with the intention of going with Bomgar.. Unfortunately Bomgar is almost as expensive as the CMS itself.. We need 14 licenses as I explained to Symantec in a lot of companies more than just Service Desk require a RAT solution. I know PCA is EOL early 2016 and has no support for anything beyond Win7

I've installed PCanywhere in 7.6 as instructed in HOWTO110286.. Reconfigured the PCA policy and security groups/ Security roles. Reinstalled PCA client run upgrade policies tried the repair to no avail..

Created a support call to Sysmantec but was informed support is no longer available. I was told that 7.6 has no way of pushing the PCA policy out. Clients no longer receive the Security Groups CIF files

    Hi Dogsd,

I did not see you comment, but how did you install pcA in your clients? Using the install plug-in policy? Did pcAAgent.dll register and in the SMA plug-in tab did the pcAnywhere plug-in start appearing?

You can check NetX remote solution as well, there is a webinar recording in this forum https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/events/announcing-netx-connect-remote-support-remote-meetings-made-easy. Do not know about pricing, but you should look into it.

PS: pcA later versions support Win8 remote connection.

    Regards.

We did get pcAnywhere to work but we upgraded to 7.6 from 7.5 then HF1 then followed the KB article. Have you got pcAnywhere licensed properly? Are there any errors in the NS log? When you try and remote control what error do you get, if any?

Rafael, thanks for the reply..yes  pcAAgent.dll registered. PCanywhere was deployed via the PCA install plug-in policy.. I had issues here as the clients where pointing to our 7.5 NS and where upgraded to the 7.6 client via AeXAgentUtil.exe /Server:New7_6NS.acme.com

    Andy..

    thanks

Yes found a licensing error in the ns logs.. not sure how I missed that.. :(  License was originally installed via the SIM but doesnt appear under Product Licensing as an Applied Product. When I reinstalling the licence I got a msgbox saying it was not an installed product:

However PCA Solution 12.6.7 HF1 ver 12.6.8209 appears under the installed products which is strange as I used the same msi from 7.5 "symantec_pcAnywheresolution_12_6_8_x64.msi" (version 12.6.8556.0)

On my 7.5 SIM it appears correctly as 12.6.8.. reinstalling everything at the moment

Its a pity Symantec support couldnt have run through a few things with me as its pretty obvious.. just overlooked by me..  :(

    Dogsd,

I think going through upgrade from 7.5 to 7.6 may be the only way to do this. A consultant friend of mine did your same steps, installing 7.6 and trying to recreate pcA and he had the same outcome. On the other hand, I was supporting a new customer and installed 7.5 from scratch and then upgraded to 7.6, pcA worked smoothly (Symantec recommended these steps).

Hope you can make it work!

    Regards.
