  • 1.  AUP set to expire 8/1/12-What will happen?

    Posted Feb 22, 2012 03:37 PM

Can someone confirm for me what will happen when my AUP expires?  Will I be not allowed to use the current licenses or just not be able to upgrade?

I have read some different information on CC and helpdesk.  Does anyone has a document they can point me too?

My belief is the fact we forgot to renew AUP once before and Altiris NS stopped working, I can't remember for sure.

I do not anticipate any functionality loss on the Deployment Server (DS) side.  I also expect the solution used to backup executive machines (called Altiris Client Recovery Solution) to stop functioning without a renewal

Here is what I am running:

The only solution I have seen beeing impacted is Patch Management. It will not be able to retrieve latest patch information anymore, thus you can not distribute newly released patches. Beside this I have seen in latest versions of PM that also existing patch policies have been disabled automatically, but I cannot confirm this behaviour 100% for sure.

Technically I've never had issues with upgrading solutions, once the AUP has expired, but if it's legally also correct, is another question.

For other solutions but Patch Management I've not seen any impact in functionality on expired AUPs.

If Helpdesk is expired, you will not be able to use the Worker licenses.  Actions not requiring a license will still function, but editing/creating requires a license.  Winusers can probably still submit.

If Patch is expired, PMImport will not occur.

Carbon Copy 6.1 will not work; Carbon Copy 6.2 will work.  Both will provide license notices to say that the license is expired.

Inventory and software should continue to function:
