I do have other machine on our network and the WinPE enviroment works fine.  As far as i can tell the Device ID:8136 and Vendor ID:10ec is in the Boot Disk Creator as standard.

This jsut means you do not have the correct NIC driver added to Winpe.

Get the Vista driver and add that to your boot disk.

I think the correct one is HERE

    Thanks for the reply.

Ok i've downloaded the Vista and WinServer 2008 driver from here and added the driver into the boot disk creator. but i still have the same problem.

    Any thoughts?

It is definitely a NIC issue from what I can see.  One thing you might try once you edit your WinPE PXE is to regenerate the images.  It's possible that the new driver didn't take or actually get put into the WinPE boot image.

    Thanks again for responding.

Your right in that the driver hasn't put it's self into the WinPE image and i have tried to regenerate the image but i'm still having the same problem.  I followed this link with the drivers that are supposed to be in the WinPE image and that worked.

These are the files i'm using:

    netrtx32.cat

    netrtx32.inf

    note.txt

    rtlh86.sys

    RtNicprop32.DLL

    RTNUninst32.dll

Strange thing is when i use the DRVLOAD netrtx32.inf command within the winpe environment i was getting the following error "DrvLoad: Unable to load netrtx32.inf (Error 0x80070103)". (Not sure but reading a few articles they suggest that the WinPE environment thinks theres a better driver).

So in the end i created a new WinPE boot menu option, deselected all possible drivers with the exception of the one that i needed and that seems to have sorted it.

    Thanks again for your help.
