I was wondering if anyone knows if there is or will be an update to Deployment Server that allows Remote Control for Windows Vista machines. Right now, only the IT dept. has Vista machines but we were looking at migrating to Vista in the near future for our users and this feature would definitely be helpful.

I think if you use the latest version of the dagent, rather than the aclient. you can do remote control to vista

    Features of DS 6.9 SP1

DAgent is now the default agent for Windows client computers.
DAgent now supports Remote Control sessions.

    See https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=42696&p=1

Remote control still works the same in 6.9 SP1. You still have to use remote desktop. The only difference is that remote desktop is now listed under the remote control menu when you right-click on a computer.

Just did install of vista enterprise.
    installed sp1
installed deployment console. (works so far, able to remote other pcs)
installed remote agent to the vista machine from my current xp machine (working on xp until the vista one is done completely)
i am unable to remote the vista machine from my xp using altiris. the remote desktop is there but thats now want we want here.
the vista machine shows that its connected to the server.

So when you click on remote desktop you can't connect to the vista computer?

i just tried, it didnt connect. I'll check some settings on the vista machine. thats the windows remote desktop, which locks the remoted pc. and the user on the other end cant see whats going on. sometimes agood thing but most of the time we like them to watch and control at the same time.

the ds remote control is grayed out. and thats the one we'd rather have working here

DS Remote Control will not work for Vista. The only option with Vista is Remote Desktop.

    >>>may not be relevant but just to note<<<
after i installed the remote agent on the vista box from the xp pc, the vista pc rebooted and somehow was not joined to the domain anymore. back to workgroup. wierd. just getting really started with vista myself so not really use to its ways.

I have a couple of questions on what to download. Should I download the full (547MB) version of the Servers installation or the Integrated Installation? Also, I am a little unclear if I need Deployment Solution for Clients. Finally, I notice at the bottom of the download page that there is a link that says "Other Trialware Products." This may be a stupid question but is 6.9 SP1 still considered "Trialware?"

DS 6.9 SP1 is considered trialware in that you can download it and try it for 30 days(I think its 30 days) without buying a license. I think you might be confusing trialware with beta. DS 6.9 SP1 is not in beta.
