I have been using the PGP desktop and Universal server, so I understand it.

Now I see the SEE (Symantec Endpoint Encryption) product and I'm confused about what the differences are. The documentation isn't clear.

    Hi IG,

PGP has been re-branded to Symantec Encryption Desktop (SED), whereas Symantec Endpoint Encryption (SEE) is another encryption solution from Symantec, which works on Disk encryption and File Encryption.

Both products under the same serial number:

Both this products are licensed under the same license agreement.

Symantec Encryption Management Server (Previously known as PGP server) and the latest version is 3.3.2 MP8/10.3.2 MP8. This is one that you are using, below is the landing page with all the relevant articles for this:

Thanks for that, but the links don't work.

I guess I am confused as to why there are two products that do the same thing. I know that Symantec bought PGP and GuardianEdge and are working to integrate them, but that does not explain why there are two or what the differences are.

    Hi IG,

The link are landing page for the respective products, and are public link, should work fine.

PGP has been re-branded to SED, which works on Email, disk, File share and File Zip encryption, where as GuardianEdge is re-branded to SEE (8.X.X version) which work on Disk and Removable Media encryption.

Now symantec is integrating both the products and SEE 11.0 is the new product, which is powered by PGP technology, and merging the functionality from both the products.
