    Hi!

    The Setup:

SMG does in & outbound emai filtering for the domain SUB.COM

Every Member at the office is using HIS.NAME@SUB.COM

one single mailbox has to use his.name@OTHERDOMAIN.COM as reply to.

OTHERDOMAIN.COM is some company that wont allow SUB.COM be listet as MX, but they grant RELAY for user his.name@OTHERDOMAIN.COM

the mailserver (exchange2010) is able to grant the user a different outgoing email adress, but has no built in fuinction to use a different smart host for @OTHERDOMAIN.COM - it will always forward all mails to the SBG

on the SBG i did add the domain @OTHERDOMAIN.COM (protocols, domain)
    *)no acceptance
*)delivery i  did add the mailserver for @OTHERDOMAIN.COM - SBG ip is allowed to relay

a testmail from that account shows  @OTHERDOMAIN.COM as reply to adress, but in the message audit log i can see that the SBG did use mx to resolve the destination mailserver - and not the optional route for this domain to the otherdomain.com mailserver

what did we do wrong ?

We are going to need some screen shots or something more details to help you. The test message you mentioned was outgoing or incoming?

    Testmail was outgoing of course.
What we need to achieve is, correct delivery of an email using a different @DOMAIN than our mailservers host. If we would send that mail directly to the receipient, it might get rejected by their revers dns<->ip lookup of the antispam system, so we want to use the other domain original mailhost as a relay, which we are allowed to.

    bottom line short:

an email sent with our domain name -> SBG should use MX record or delivery
an email sent with the different domain name -> SBG should use rerouting to the domains official mailserver and relay

    sender based routing

but according to the auditlog, it wont even thou we did add the stuff described in OP
