  • 1.  "Peer/GhostCasting connection terminated"

    Posted Nov 09, 2007 05:20 PM
    Greetings,

I have problem with a Dell Dimension E310 w/ Intel Pro 100/VE NIC.  We are using GSS2 with the latest build.

When I setup the machine for a scheduled new image task (from template), the machine reboots into Ghost just fine.  The DOS screen "blips" without ever truly launching the GhostCast client and the machine goes back to DOS with a message stating:

    Error Number: (33000)
    Message: Peer/GhostCasting connection terminated

and then reboots back into Windows.  I tried both the recommended NIC driver (Intel PRO 100) and the Universal Packet Driver 2.0 and both come back with the same error.  I tried the "-noide" switch as recommended in a previous thread here on the Symantec forum without avail.

If I create a boot disk on a USB thumb drive I am able to boot into Ghost just fine from the machine and GhostCast client runs perfectly fine.  I am able to setup a GhostCast session manually that will image the PC without issue.

    Here is the error file:

Apparently I spoke too soon on the manual image creation GhostCast session being successful.

At the very end of the imaging task, Ghost returned the following error(s):

    Internal error 19215
An internal inconstistency has been detected.

    Compression error -4.

Here's the error file from the GSS server:

Somehow, it doesn't surprise me that I have a machine in my infrastructure that would produce a GSS error that no one knows anything about.  So is my life...  :banghead:

    Well, your not alone!

I just finished 2 days of installing Ghost Suite 11 trial in 4 machines (different NIC in everyone unforetunately).

I made sure all had good drivers and could pull an image successfully (my current version 7.5 was having problems with them). All was well, all machines talked to console, and all pulled images just fine so I deemed it OK to actually purchase the upgrades (10 workstations).

I uninstalled all old clients, then the console, then installed the purchased version, loaded all clients remotely, all are seen in the console, set up the jobs the same way I had set them up with the trial - and BOOM!

I get the same error you describe above on ALL machines except it goes into the Ghost client screen then disconnects with the 33000 error.

Boy is this frustrating - that's why I went through the whole scenario of installing the trial first. So I assume something has changed between the trial version and the real version.

    Any clues - anyone?

    OK, my bad!

Apparently, Ghost isn't smart enough to create the folder structure for an image if it doesn't exist, and doesn't just tell you that in the error message.

I was trying to store images to F:\Images\<imagename> but the Images subfolder on F: did not exist.

Created that and reran all image jobs and they all worked.

So much for informative error messages...
