  • 1.  Boot Disk for Optiplex GX260 won't work with usb keyboard & mouse.

When I try creating a new image for an Optiplex GX260 using a usb keyboard & mouse the computer locks up and I can't type in a session name. When I'm creating a boot disk do I have to check an option to enable usb support?

Also, in the previous version of Symantec Ghost if you clicked ok Ghost would automatically ghost both the dos partition and Windows partition. When I try ghosting first if I tab down after selecting the 23 mb dos partition this will get ghosted when clicking ok instead of the 2nd partition. Would this have something to do with my usb issue? I used to tab through both partitions in the previous version and both partitions would ghost automatically.

Actually I got the model wrong its an Optiplex GX270 but it I got it work on one machine in the lab but not the others. I was wrong about the keyboards they aren't usb keyboards and are ps/2 keyboards.

    Hi Mike.

Which version of ghost are you using?
also, does your ps/2 keyboard still not working?
    thanks.

    regards,

This may not even be Ghost-related. Many GX270s have an inherent motherboard flaw (we've replaced about 20 in the last 18 months) that causes all sorts of weirdness. Ghost used to do some strange things on some of our GX270s before we replaced the 'boards, so you may want to investigate that route too.

This might not be relevant but I also had some trouble with GX270.
GX270 shares IRQ between network card and serial ATA controller.
so I had a bit of trouble when I used PXE and tried to access the disk at the same time.
