  • 1.  Booting from USB Drive HP 8200 ELITE

OK I have spent the last couple of hours trying to figure this out. I have an hp 8200 elite, that will not boot from a USB drive. The drive works fine because I  can get it to boot on other devices. I disabled the data execution prevention, still nothing. The device is coming up under the EFI boot section, so I am assuming it has to do with that, but not quite sure what. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

I would try a different brand of usb drive I have had some systems that would't boot fro what ever reason from certain usb devices.   I think it was the style of usb memory that made a difference.   At any rate I have a 1 gig san disk that is anchent that has never failed me.

    Hope that helps.

Is the computer having EFI partition ?

There are currently no versions of Ghost Solution Suite that support machines incorporating the EFI or UEFI standards as a BIOS replacement.

    Hello Silvercrest,

Shanthi is absolutely right. Focus at EFI because Ghost is not prepared yet for that kind of BIOS.
I do not see an issue with that USB.

Unless I have misunderstood the operation of EFI, it is a function of the operating system that is being booted. I note that the WinPE boot system includes an EFI folder, so that suggests to me that WinPE does have built in support for EFI, and this is where the focus needs to take place. Once the system is booted to WinPE, I would imagine that the standard Ghost executable would work just fine.
