    Hi,

The scenario we're having is that we're wanting to move an old physical server 2000 box to a virtualised instance inside of Virtual Server 2005 R2.

I backed up a ghost image of the original server as usual - simple to do as it isn't even RAID.  I have the image files ready to go.  Next I try to make a boot CD from the ghost boot wizard.  I put the CD in and reboot the virtual machine.

    'Boot failure_'

... that's all that I get on the screen.  Is there a way to get around this?  I am using PC-Dos as I can't find the MS-DOS files anywhere and we chucked all our old disks a few years back.

I have successfully used PC-DOS virtual floppies and pxe boot with Virtual Server 2005 R2.

I'll check the situation with network boot CD's and get back to you.

Confirmed that MS-DOS works. I believe it is possible to obtain the required files/boot disks from a Windows 98 installation. I'm unsure of the Microsoft license implications there, you may need to look into that.
