Uninstalling DLP Agent (12.5)

Hello there, 

I have some trouble uninstalling a DLP 12.5 agent. I have tried the following ways:

1. msiexec /uninstall {product code} /q UNINSTALLPASSWORD=""
2. Manually uninstalling from Add/Remove Programs (we did not use the optional ARP switch when installing)
3. Uninstalling by using wmic switches. 

I have installed 12.5 agent without the UNINSTALLPASSWORDKEY defined. When checking the logs, I see an error failing to read UninstallPassword, check if Keystore database is in correct state. 

I have attached a copy of the uninstall logs here. Also, is there a clean tool that I can use to deploy remotely?

HI Farid,

 

Just try to uninstall it using the package which you used to install the agent.

 

Just Right click on agent installer and select uninstall.

 

Hope will uninstall your agent

Hello Farid,

Try uninstalling the agent by using the same package which you have used to install the agent, Run the package and select Uninstall option to uninstall it.

If this doesnt work, Use the Cleanagent.exe endpoint tool to completely remove the tool.

You need to run the uninstall bat script by right click the bat script and select 'Run as administrator'.

Unfortunately, this does not work. When I try to use the same package, it just assumes that it is a fresh installation and does not give me an option to uninstall.

Where can I get this cleanagent.exe tool? Is it in one of the download packages?

This does not work as well. 

I have already tried doing a psexec to the remote computer and running the uninstall batch file. This session has full admin rights.

It is a part of the agent package. Check in the Endpoint tools folder.

Searched on all agent packages from 12.0 onwards and there's no cleanagent tool in the Endpoint tools folder. Tools are already in there includes AttributeQueryResolver, DeviceID, GetAppInfo, logdump, service_shutdown, UninstallPwdKeyGenerator, update_configuration and vontu_dqlite3.

Thanks but this doesn't work as well. It runs and then quits unexpectedly.

Okay, Than olny thing we can suggest you is try clean registry related to DLP agent.

 

Also restart in safe mode and try Install/Uninstall.

Hi Farid,

I would suggest below steps to try it out but I did not understand your motive to get uninstall the agent. As you are working on DLP, you must know the methods that required to install and uninstall. I am not pointing out but little confuse about your cause of the issue

1. Install the Syamantec DLP agent completely again and if this succesfull, reboot and try to unstall again with same setup
2. If above fails then delete the registry keys of DLP from regedit. and try to install/uninstall again.
3. If above again fails then try to remove manually by following below commands
