  • 1.  Dropbox upload using browser not detected at endpoint

    Posted Apr 08, 2014 09:01 AM

    Hi Guys,

We have observed that whenever a file is uploaded at dropbox.com same is not being detected at our endpoint.

The policy created for detection contains only http/https and SSL protocols.

Can anyone please help me to create a policy that will detect uploads done at dropbox.

    Thanks & Regards,

    TanmayB

this can be monitored by use of Application Monitor.

    Hi,

Thank you so much for your replies. However we have already enabled application monitoring for dropbox.

We are not able to capture incidents were users are uploading documents using dropbox website i.e. www.dropbox.com.

We are able to capture incidents of website uploads for www.box.com but not for www.dropbox.com.

As stated in my first post the policy created for detection contains only http/https and SSL protocols but it does capture uploading activities at www.box.com only.

    Thanks & Regards,

im experiencing the same issue. I'm trying to use web prevent for dropbox.com but it fails to create an incident. If it change the same policy to box.com or even google.com it works.

I can watch the local agent "dropbox.exe" but i want to monitor users using the web to upload files not using Endpoint.

TanamyB, Were you able to find a solution?

    Tanmay,

Do you have HTTPS detection turned on for the Endpoint Agent?

You will need to have HTTPS turned on in the Agent Configuration section.

Also what browser are you using? I believe that there might be an issue with newer versions of Firefox for HTTPS detection.

Also take a look at this article, looks like Dropbox might be the issue.

    Hope this makes sense.
