  • 1.  Scanning DAR on FTP server - what is Target Type?

    Posted Jul 20, 2011 03:26 PM

    Hello all,

I'm attempting to scan about 600Gb of compressed log data stored on an FTP server.

I've configured the Discover server to scan a File Share Target with the appropriate path and credentials.

Is this the correct scan config?

    Thanks,

    -EC

A File Share Server is very different to a FTP Server.

The Discover Server supports the following File System Server target:

    • CIFS on Windows

    • NFS on Linux

    • DFS scanning on Windows 2003 and Windows 2008. DFS is not supported with Network Protect.

    • Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders (.pst files) created with Outlook 1997-2002, 2003, and 2007.

    • File systems on UNIX systems can also be scanned, even if they are not exposed as CIFS or NFS shares

What kind of FTP Server you used? If you FTP Server is based on a Linux system, you can also scan the local file system on a Linux Network Discover Server by listing the path name in the content root. For example, you can enter /home/ftproot
