    Hi there,

In the event of a disaster, for example hardware failure of the enforce server, can a recovery be completed from the backup tapes or will the server need to be rebuilt, DLP installed from disk then Oracle DB restored from backups?

    Regards

    Ralph

ensure protect password is noted down. copy the folders of Vontu/protect as this will be need for the certificate transfer.

    copy the oracle DB.

refer the documentation named "Symantec_DLP_11.5_System_Maintenance_Guide.pdf from the install media.

    Hi,

    The steps we followed:

ISSUE: Upgrade of Enforce server failed from 11.1 to 11.5.1

    SOLUTION:
    > Backed up current Vontu directories.
    > Removed the Data Loss Prevention from the Enforce Server.
    > Reinstalled the Enforce Server using the 11.5 Protect Installer, using existing keystore and license files.
    > Upgraded two Discover Server Von02 and Von03 to 11.5 and replace the keystore file on the Enforce server to restore communication.
    > Upgraded the Enforce Server and two Discover Servers to 11.5.1 using the 11.5.1_Upgrader_Windows.jar
    > Verified that the upgrade was successful and all servers are showing 11.5.1 version now.

Following the upgrade instructions I had backed up the files required, keystore, Oracle db cold back up, config files etc. Symantec also suggest to backup the complete "protect" directory. Symantec engineers provided the sql plus instructions to confirm the oracle db had been upgraded before the failure happened, luckily the db upgrade was confirmed as completed, so just a Recovery of the Enforce server and Discover servers.

Great support from the Symantec support engineers.
    Many thanks
