Login to the SEPM and remove it from the policy.

    1. Open the console manager
    2. Click Clients
    3. Select Policies tab.
    4. Click on General Settings.
    5. Select Security Settings tab.
    6. De-select Require a password to uninstall the client
    7. Click OK.

Can I ask this question about this solution....

If you can't log in to the SEPManager because you don't have the password, how does one go through the steps shown?

    Maybe I'm missing something here...

    You don't.

Without access to the SEPM, the above would not work.

Cleanwipe would be a better solution if access to the SEPM is not available.

Brian - thanks.  I thought I was losing it...

So, in order to get by this problem, assuming too that you've lost the password and cannot get SEPM to generate the recovery eMail, CleanWipe is a Symantec utility to wipe out all traces of SEPM so you can re-start everything "from square one".  Right?  Can you link me to it because I have this situation.

Symantec should have a utility to reset the password. You'll need to open a support ticket though.

    More research...

OK, Brian - I know now to look in the Tools folder.  Got it.

But again, would it be your guess that simply uinstalling the old, preserves the old password data (and thus the flumoxed authentication) so that I'm faced with the same situation once the new one is installed?

Yes, that's what I'll try first.  It would be nice to preserve the old settings, etc.

So, you're feeling that I'm facing the same problem once the new one gets on the sys, right?

I don't see a need to uninstall if you can just reset the password.

    Hello,

Is there any particular reason to unisntall SEP? Are you company admin or end user?

Cleanwipe is a last resort to uninstall SEP, do not uninstall SEPM by any chance using this tool.
