Older content in the Downloads/Manage Updates folder is purged automatically by LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x.  There is no need to manually perform any action on the subdirectories or files in this directory.  Do not attempt to manually remove "old" files as this will cause the LUA server's PostgreSQL database to become out of sync with what files are actually present.

You should use the purge option and do not delete manually

    1. Log on to the LUA Web interface and click Configure>Preferences.
    2. Locate the Purge updates in Manage Updates folder section.
    3. Configure how frequently purge cycles are run in the How often sub section.
    4. Configure what content to purge in the Rule sub section.
    5. Click Update to save your changes.

Have you set the purge value? that  should take care of it, Its not at all recommended to delete contents of downloads folder manually.

Here is what Mick says about it

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/managing-liveupdate-administrator-2x-space-usage

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH132036

as of now lets wait for the purge to complete. In the mean time you can try deleting temp files in C drive and try disk cleanup once... if you have any downloads move them to D drive for time being.

Purging is not working. As i check, there are still old definitions in the manage update folders and also the value of our purging is set to the lowest. Any related issue with this?

    Regards.

Purging typically works well and reliably in LUA 2.3.2.  Please be sure that you have your LUA configured to only keep 1 or 2 past revisions of updates.

Also, check the LUA Event Log for any purge-related errors.

    Hi JM,

Rafeeq's advice is sound.  Set your LUA 2.x server to retain only the past 1 revision and have it purge Manage Updates and Distribution Centers daily.   Do not manaully delete and files from the LUA server's directories!

If you are running out of space on the C drive of that server, ensure that you are only downloading contents that you need rather than the entire product family, move your Temp Downloads to a different volume, move Manage Updates to a different volume, and use a remote Distribution Center rather than the default clu-prod.

    Hope this helps!

    Mick

As per checking, the configuration settings for the update retention is only 1 past date. However, the LUA server is still full after the purging schedule.

Any issue with our LUA server?

    Thank you.

Since you are running out of space lets try this

How to Backup and Restore LiveUpdate Administrator 2.1 and 2.2 Settings when doing a uninstall and reinstall

    After this , select to
download only whats needed for your environment under the product selection
