  • 1.  Ok to delete files in C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\content?

Hi, our files in this folder seem to be corrupt and the definitions have stopped updating.  We believe this is due to corruption in C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\content.  I want to know if it's OK to delete the files in there.

I realize this folder is where the number of revisions is kept for LiveUpdate purposes, but it seems it cannot go beyond what is currently set because the data is corrupt.  I know it is not recommended to delete them, but can I simply delete them and have the system rebuild them automatically over a 24 hour period?

I need an answer as soon as someone from Symantec reads this please, this is a fairly important PCI Compliance issue.

    Thanks!

    Dan

Yes, you can delete, it will re-populate.

You should be able to run the symhelp tool on the SEPM to see what it shows as well.

If space is an issue and you are not already on 12.1 RU5 I'd reccomend upgrading to that release as it saves so much space. It has a smarter way of saving definitions our instalations have gone from 80GB down to about 30GB and that's with the new RU5 saving 90 definition revisions.
