Symantec Packager came with version 8 of the product. From version 9, the product was again shipped with .msi package for the client. There are multiple ways of installing the client with the .msi package, for example with a software distribution tool, like SMS or Altiris. Using active directory to install the client at computer startup with a script is maybe the best solution.

Other than that, you should upgrade to the latest version, 10.1.7, to start stopping Spyware in realtime scanning, as version 9 only scans for spyware in scheduled or manual scans. You can have a mixed environment with 9 and 10 clients, as long as the antivirus server is upgraded.

I am not sure if Symantec Packager is supported anymore.

Symantec Packager works with 10, but it is not supported.

Note: Packager was built into the version 11 console. It allows you to customize the client packages for deployment.

    Onur,

I agree with Oivin, you should install SAV 10.1 instead of SAV 9.

I am not really sure if you want a single executable or not. If you don't then as long as the GRC.DAT from the server you want to use to manage your client is in the same path as Symantec Antivirus.msi, this GRC.DAT will be used to configure the client, therefore the client will report to the server you want.

By default, all servers (9 and 10) will have a copy of the installer with the right GRC.DAT in C:\Program Files\SAV\Clt-inst\WIN32
