  • 1.  Client - Incorrect IP for Management Server

    Posted Jun 13, 2011 09:41 AM

    Hi,

    Why do my SEP Clients have an incorrect IP address for the Management Server ?

    All SEP Clients are showing 10.0.0.49...which is actually and IP address secured in DHCP by RRAS on the parent Management Server.

    The servers actual IP address is 10.0.0.2.

    Management serve object in SEP Manager is showing as having both IP addresses, 10.0.0.49 underneath 10.0.0.2

    Currently with SEP Clients showing 10.0.0.49 they do not automatically update.

    Though I can push defs/policies manually from the SEP Management console.

    Why have I got 10.0.0.49 listed ?

    Though...curiously...I've checked some other similar installations with similar setup...and they too appear to be reporting an IP address leased by RRAS on the main server as the SEP Client Management server IP..

    ...but they are working and are updating automatically..so perhaps the above is a red herring ?

    Either way should not the Management Server IP be the main IP address or the management server ?

    And why isn't it ?

    You should have assinged a Management Server List...

    this is how u can check;

    open the SEPM

    client on clients

    click on poicies..

    below tasks; click on Export Communication settings; open it in a word pad

    Check the IP; this is the ip your clients get when you install the package; the communication file is called SYLINk.xml ; all clients will have this IP of SEPM

    to check if there are any management server list assigned; then check this.

    open sepm

    policies

    click on drop down menu of policy components;

    u see management server list; check if u have more than 1 and check what IP is assigned..
