  • 1.  Norton 360 deleting \%windir%\temp\low folder

I'm having a problem and I can't seem to find any answers in my searches. We're having problems with Internet Explorer v8 & v9 printing blank web pages on some PC's. We can see the content in the web page but when the job is sent to the printer it renders a blank page. Everything I've seen out there points to the problem being a miss "LOW" folder. If this folder doesn't exist in \%windir%\temp print jobs will fail. Restarting IE will often solve the problem temporarily. Problem is this folder keeps disappering. I've watched this occur.

When I stop Norton I'm able to recreate the folder and print just fine. When I start Norton back up the folder disappers within 5 mintutes.

Is this normal behavior for Norton 360? I also have another client running Corporate version and the same thing occurs.

    Hello,

I would Recommend you to connect to Norton 360 Forums.

    http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/bd-p/Norton_360

This is Symantec Forum's for Symantec Endpoint Protection v.11 and Symantec Antivirus Products v.10

    Hope this would help!!!

    Hi Mithun,

I should have been more clear. I have the same problem with clients running SEP v.11.

Basically the question here is does Norton/Symantec delete the "LOW" folder? It seems to be the culprit because I can create this folder manually or use the tool provided by Microsoft in this article:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973479

ANd within a few minutes the folder disappears. If I recreate the folder and disable Norton/Symantec, the folder will stay there for an extended period. As soon as I turn Norton/Symantec back on the folder eventually disappears.

For Norton 360, you always have a option to create a exclusion for Auto- Protect.

For Endpoint you need to create a centralized exception.

    Below links help you.

    For Norton

    http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20090202114553EN&ln=en_US

    For Endpoint

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH104326

Please note if you exclude the folder in Endpoint, it will not be scanned in a full scan aswell.

    Good Luck!
