We have a new installation of SEP 11 [centrally managed via an internal server] and have had one glaring problem on a number of machines [not all machines].

After pushing the SEP client to a computer [via the Clients>Find Unmanaged Computers Option-note we us a silent install option with a mandatory reboot and install All components of SEP] the client installs but on reboot and subsequent login encounter a blank notification screen at the lower right corner of the taskbar with an OK button option and a coinciding Symantec CMC SmcGui error from windows saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close. After clicking close the client shows two icons on the taskbar: One is the shield with a red do not enter logo on it and the other is a shield with a green dot [the correct icon showing the client is connected to the management console and everything is good]. The remains fine until a reboot when this entire process repeats itself. Any ideas or recommendations would be helpful. Also here is a list of things we've tried:

-Deleting the client from the computer and the console and re-pushing the software

-Forcing an update from the client and the console end

    Thanks in advance!

I m experiencing a similar problem at one of my clients. I do not know what is causing it either.
I have also tried re-installing the client without success. Our installation was an upgrade from v10.

What I did to resolved this issue is uninstall then install the latest version of SEP.

Below are the reference that helps me address the concern.

Error: "Symantec CMC SmcGui has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
