why antivirus client can not auto update virus definition from parent server?

    Hi!;

     

    I have installed Symantec corporate 8.1 on my server. However I have few antivirus corporate 10.1.5 client users in my network. However the 10.1.5 client can not auto download the virus definition from parent server. The antivirus server function working properly. It is because if 8.1 clients can auto download and update the virus definition properly but except the version 10.1.5. I would like to know if we want the 10.1.5 client can auto update the virus definition from server, should we need upgrade the antivirus server to same version with client?

    you need to have at least a 10.0 server to support and manage 10.x clients.
     
    the reason for this is that with 10.0, we switched communication to use secured TCP.  While a SAV10 server is capable of managing all versions of client (as it can support both UDP and TCP), the SAV10 client has to be managed by a SAV10 server as its only form of communication is TCP.
     
    If you upgrade your server 10.1.5 then it will enable this "legacy" option and you will be able to use it to manage both SAV8 and SAV10.
