  • 1.  Problem with adding a rule to the firewall

    Posted May 14, 2013 06:24 AM

    Hi!

I tried to add a new firewall rule to allow LLDP Traffic, so I added a new ethernet rule und wanted to fill in the Protocol Type field with "0x88cc" for the ethertype of LLDP, but I can only type in "0x88c", because I couldn't write a second "c". I also can't type the example "0x86dd", even if I copy it, there is only "0x86d".

Why is it impossible to fill in this field correnctly?

    Regards,

    TWSS

What SEP version are you on?

I'm running SEP 12.1 and have no issue adding 0x86dd to the Protcol Type line.

Works fine for me too on SEPM running 12.1RU2MP1.

Are you defining this within the FW policy itself?  Have you tried adding it as a new Network Service under POLICIES -> Policy Components -> Network Services?

Works fine for me on the same version, even without adding as a network service, although this is something you can do

Adding network services to the default network services list

Ok, I solved the problem, this problem doesn't occur in the Endpoint Protection Manager on the host system, but I still have this problem via web browser (Firefox + Internet Explorer)...

You are correct. I just tested and it does NOT work when using the web console. My guess is it's a bug in which case Symantec support needs to be contacted.
