    Good day

One of my servers (File Server - ML380 G5 HP - Windows 2003 R2) keeps giving me an event log statink that my Definition files are out of date. This error pops up every now and then.

Strange thing is that the Management Console for Symantec shows the DEF files are up to date.

If I open Symantec Anti-Virus the Definition files are from 1/26/2010 rev.4. This error is really annoying. I have tried everything. If I remove Symantec from the Server Completely reboot and re-install it will dissapear for a couple of days and then return again.

Sometimes it will follow by a error similar to this one.

Faulting application Rtvscan.exe, version 10.1.5.5000, faulting module CCERASER.DLL, version 109.2.3.12, fault address 0x001c001e.

The Even logs also report a lot fo Temper Protection errors. If i remove the client from the server all errors are gone.

I have tried everything. Even reloading the server completely from scratch and reinstalling everything. The application seems to be working fine on all my other servers

    Please help.

Try this 1. Stop Windows Management Instrumentation(WMI) service。 2. Delete all the files in C:\windows\system32\wbem\Repository folder 3. Start Windows Management Instrumentation(WMI) service or reboot computer.

Check this and let us know whether it helped.

"Old virus definition file" warning is displayed even though the virus definitions are up to date

    Good day.

After I made the changes you recommended it was fine for 3 days. Today I noticed that the errors have returned again.

    Any other suggestions?

The Current VDF Version is 02/04/2010 Rev.6 which corresponds with the server that is resposnible for the File Updates.

    Hi Aravind

I tried running a live Update on the Symnatec Server but its telling me that all products are currently up to date.

I also reregistered all the DLL files for the WMI service and will see if that doesn't resolve the issue.

What I find very strange is that if the WMI repository is deleted and recreated the errors dissapear for a couple of days. This I have also noticed when I remove Symantec and do a reinstall.

What i have also noticed is that somehow the corruption of symantec is occuring ever 3 days.

The server is not running any strange software accept the Symantec Client Security and the Symantec Backup Exec Client.

    Will let U know.
