    Hi everyone,

While creating Application and device control policy to block bluetooth devices, I came to know that in predefined list of devices, there are 2 options to choose from in case of bluetooth. One is "Bluetooth Radios" and other is "Bluetooth devices (Generic)". Can anyone please let me know what is the difference between the two and how the choice will affect the output????

    Regards,

    hello,

    Generic Bluetooth Device

The Generic Bluetooth Device Support component is a macro component that bundles the components that are used to support all supported Bluetooth devices, including mouse devices, keyboards, modems, printers, and network adapters. By using this component, you can quickly add generic Bluetooth device support to your device.

Bluetooth Radios :  The Bluetooth Radio (layer) is the lowest defined layer of the Bluetooth specification. It defines the requirements of the Bluetooth transceiver device operating in the 2.4GHz ISM band.

    Bluetooth Radio

The Radio layer defines the requirements for a Bluetooth transceiver operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band.

In simple words Bluetooth Radio is the small device that will receive or send the bluetooth signal.

    Hi Manish,

Thanks for a prompt response. That was very informative. But I have one doubt. If i block Bluetooth radios or Bluetooth Devices (generic), then I guess it will also block Bluetooth mouse or keyboard or any human interface device that operates using bluetooth, as these devices will also have a transceiver built-in.

    Your throughts on it????

    Hi Manish,

Found the answer. Symantec says "It will block all the devices that communicate using bluetooth. Adding exceptions to blocking will not work".. Thanks for your help.. :)

    Hi Darshan,

It will block al the bluetooth devices but if you can add the particular hardware device id in exception then it will work fine.
