I'm currently reading up on recommended anti-virus exceptions for Exchange Servers.  It turns out, there are a SLEW of them:

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb332342(v=exchg.150).aspx#Directory

Is SEP14 smart enough to exclude these as-is, or will I need to go through and enter each one of these exclusions into my policies?

    Thank you.

SEP will identify Exchange servers when it's installed and automatically add exclusions for the following versions:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102400

After the SEP client is installed, review the contents of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\AV\Exclusions registry

Add any other exceptions manually that you feel need to be included.

    Hello,

Yes, The latest available release of the Symantec Endpoint Protection client software creates file and folder scan exclusions for the following Microsoft Exchange server versions:

    • Exchange 5.5
    • Exchange 2000
    • Exchange 2003
    • Exchange 2007
    • Exchange 2010 (introduced with SEP 11 RU6 MP1)
    • Exchange 2013 (introduced with SEP 12.1 RU3)
    • Exchange 2016 (introduced with SEP 14)

Check these below articles for more information:

I have a question regarding the order of installation. I'm in the process of setting up servers running Window 2016 and will be installing Exchange 2016 shortly. For the exclusions to work correctly do I install Symantec after Exchange or can I install Symantec now and expect that the exceptions will work once I go to install Exchange?

    Thanks!

Install SEP after Exchange so it can auto-detect and add the exclusions.
