    Many thanks, J.Bonner!

Documentation usually posts within 24 hours or so of a new release.

As with all new releases, I strongly encourage admins to upgrade the SEPMs and SEP clients in their environment to take advantage of all the new fixes, enhancements and improvements.

    With thanks and best regards,

    Mick

Thanks for placing the security advisories/vulnerability information in the New Fixes document.

Makes it easier to place a priority on the upgrade.

Does this update address all the flaws recently found?

    Yes.

Did the install in a test environment. Worked well for two of the servers (SEPM and AD) but the third server has been very slow to boot up and RDP failed to connect several times. Will probably wait a few days to roll this out to production just to see if anyone else experiences issues.

Anyone knows if there are problems with the GUP not updating the clients?

Looks like GUP is one of the fixes of the release. GUP on Windows Server 2012 fails to update clients FIX ID: 3904878 Symptom: Group Update Providers running Windows Server 2012 fail to update clients, because the clients are not able to download definitions from them. Group Update Providers running Windows Server 2003 do not experience this issue. Solution: Added the process ccSvcHst.exe as an exception to Microsoft's firewall rules.

Yesterday I upgrade the two SEPMs with replication and a handful of windows clients to 12.1.6 MP5 and haven’t seen any issues. The upgrade includes new 12.1.6 MP5 clients for Windows (32bit & 64bit) and Linux (RPM & DPKG), but the client for the Mac is only 12.1.6 MP4, which according to SYM16-010 is affected by this vulnerability. According to https://www.symantec.com/security_response/securityupdates/detail.jsp?fid=security_advisory&pvid=security_advisory&year=&suid=20160628_00 Symantec Endpoint Protection for Mac (SEP for Mac) 12.1.6 MP4 and prior are affected by this vulnerability. Also the “Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6 MP5 All Clients EN” download only includes 12.1.6 MP4 for the Mac.

How and when can I get SEP 12.1.6 MP5 for the Mac?

It doesn't appear that a new Mac version was released. It's still at 12.1.6 MP4.

Thanks Brian. Since according to SYM16-010 (https://www.symantec.com/security_response/securityupdates/detail.jsp?fid=security_advisory&pvid=security_advisory&year=&suid=20160628_00) states the 12.1.6 MP4 for the Mac is vulnerable, I would like to know somthing offical from Symantec? Like an ETA when a patched version for the Mac will be released.

Good question. I see SEP for Mac on fileconnect but it's not MP5.

    Hi,

We upgraded SEPM and all our clients and, so far, have noted no incidents.

I did notice when I created a managed setup.exe file for installations, the size of the executable is much smaller than what I was seeing in previous SEPM versions. As i have done in the past, I used all the standard settings for the export.  I did not see anything in the release notes.  Has anyone else noticed this?

    Thanks,

    CQ

I opened a tickt and got a response that "SEP for Mac is protected against these vulnerabilities by running LiveUpdate to ensure definitions are on June 28th, revision 37 or newer." and there will be "no SEP for Mac product version 12.1 RU6 MP5."

    CQ,

I noticed the same thing, strange nothing on the release notes about this.

Also I noticed, when you install SEPM client from a extracted package, liveupdate runs at the end of install.
