Waiting for update "Virus and Spyware Protection" with limited access

Hi all,

When a limited user logins to a computer with Symantec Endpoint Protection version 12, SEP shows in "Virus and Spyware protection" section: waiting for update,

but when an administrator logs in with administrator access everything is ok and Symantec Endpoint Protection is update.

I have removed and reinstalled SEP but the issue still persists

The packages would have updated definitions only when the SEPM had latest definitions on them during the package creation.

Was the SEPM updated with Latest definitions during the package creation

I am sorry that I didt not understanf the issue you have..

Please let me know more about the same.

Do you mean that Once you have the client installed it shows Waiting for Updates for days...untill you login as an Admin..?? or you just keep it under observation for few mins and then you login as an Admin to check if that works...!!

The reason I am asking you this is, as Manish said, the client package would have old definitions of when the package was created and hence it will take some time for the SEP client to take the updates. If the package that you have deployed has very old definitions then it needs to download a full update which would be around 180 to 200 Mb in size and this will take a longer time.

Please correct me if I am wrong..

Is the SEP client installed in User Mode?

Is there a Proxy??

This could happen when Administrators have access to Internet via Proxy and Local users dont.

I think that i haven' describe the issue very well,

I mean that When i log in with admin user ,SEP AV definitions is updated and shows today's definitions but when i log off an login with a limited user it shows waiting for update and if i wait for even for hours, it shows Waiting for update and when i log off and login with a admin user shows the latest definitions and again log off the admin user and login with a limited user "shows waiting for update"

i checked it and it is is computer mode and it is a managed client and it think that it doesn't need internet and proxy access .

I am experiencing the same issue on one of our clients, this is something I've not come across before.
